Holiness Redefined – How to Kill Sin Through Repentance, Inner Healing, and Deliverance
This teaching redefines holiness from the Bible – radical repentance into the love of God, inner healing, and deliverance – and shows how to kill sin by setting your mind on the Spirit.
(Acts 17:11: Please learn to do your own Bible studies like this one – here.)
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Hebrews 12:14
… I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds.
Acts 26:20
My Own Road to Freedom
One of the foundational starting blocks of my freedom was a redefinition or rather – a 100% clarification of holiness. I had to undeniably reassure myself that it was actually even fully a sin to watch porn!! I was stuck and so many around me, even other Christian leaders, were watching it and I had watched it for 18 years – not wanting it – yet doing it!!??!! – and I needed for someone to stand up and say: THIS IS A SIN – YOU NEED TO REPENT. For that purpose, I read this book and heard these testimonies by Donna Rigney (the book on Amazon).
Donna Rigney – maybe start with number 1, and if you like it, there is more
I also heard teachings on Sid Roth, It’s Supernatural, by Rodney Hogue and bought and read his book on deliverance. I encourage you to be hungry enough for your own freedom, for the freedom of others and being simply obedient to Jesus in His command to cast out demons, to find his teachings on YouTube and Sid Roth and to find his book and consider buying it.
I needed it to be clear. I needed it to take my stand on the truth.
I needed to take away the fog, the doubt, the defeat, the theological accusations even.
Is she always right in everything? No. But I do believe she has met the true Lord Jesus and she was one of the first who showed me how to truly press myself into hanging out with my dear best friend, my fully loving Daddyo. I give her honor as honor is due to her. To me – she was my forerunner into quality time in the secret place – and the truth and strength of holiness. And Sid Roth began to show me, through Rodney Hogue, how deliverance is for real and for today. Torben Søndergaard showed me about obedience for all to the fullness of the commands of what real discipleship is. And the four “Demon Slayers” + Don Dickerman and others like Derek Prince and Peter Horrobin showed me more about deliverance. Kevin Zadai has taught me how to believe in the impossible, unlimit myself in God – and die to self – “surfing the wave of humility”. Rick Joyner has “been with me” through books – especially The Final Quest – and given much wisdom throughout my life.
As I mention all these heroes and legends, please read about how to healthily evaluate ministries and words, and sayings, and not become a religious Pharisee (killing Jesus in the name of God), as well as actually humbly but with justice without compromise addressing lack of health and sin here:
How Does This Freedom Work in a Healthy Way?
- In the Christian faith – you have already qualified. You are already called and anointed. You have already been approved.
- Now it is “only” a matter of truly deeply humbling ourselves, repenting, failing the tests – and getting back up – and growing into what we have already been given.
- That is living in peace, in our identity, in the victory Jesus already purchased – and most importantly in the intimate friendship Jesus already purchased completely for us with His blood.
- We already have all we need in the love of God, the power of the Holy Spirit and the authority of the name of Jesus. We are called, chosen, sent.
- We now need to step out into all that we are called to do, sent to do – and we need to learn how to do it.
This is really very serious – are you willing to come 100% clean?
Or will you keep hiding in shame?
Will you admit God sees all – you are already exposed – your sin is 100% known and seen. Bring it out in the open for God to help – for good people to help. To go deep.
You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:4-10
This is super serious. What do you and I believe?
Have you and I mourned, grieved, and wailed? That is a command of Scripture. That is choosing humility. Have you meant it? God sees straight through it – if you are not sorry for accusing God of not being good. That’s what I did. It was idolatry – worshipping a false “god” (little g). Have you seen how you have done that – questioning the goodness of God – when things didn’t go well – worshipping circumstances – not Jesus who is good and proved it by giving His life for you and me on the cross?
I humbled myself – and God has lifted me up. It’s not that He wants to shame or defile you – He wants to lift you up – but that will only happen through humility.
Going Through Romans Regarding Holiness and Freedom From Sin

Romans 5 – Peace and hope
Peace and Hope
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Romans 5:1-11
Romans 6 – this is what is right
Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:1-14
Slaves to Righteousness
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:15-23
Romans 7 – this is the problem regarding what is right
Released From the Law, Bound to Christ
Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man. So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
Romans 7:1-6
The Law and Sin
What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful. We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
Romans 7:7-25
Romans 8 – the solution (also hinted at in Romans 7:6)
Life Through the Spirit
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Romans 8:1-17
Present Suffering and Future Glory
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Romans 8:18-30
More Than Conquerors
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:31-39
AMEN!!
The Solution
Romans 8 – the solution to do what is right: repentance into the love of God by the Spirit of God given to us by faith + using our authority to do deliverance. The Fullness of the Word of God teaches us that.
“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5:48). “Be holy, because I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16).
There is no excuse for sin – Jesus is always the way out. There is always a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). It is on us to humble ourselves, confess, repent, turn, and choose the power of grace and overcome through the Holy Spirit in us.
There are problems with Lutheran theology, “God is in control” theology, and predestination theology (Calvinism). Please read my Bible study on the dangers of saying “God is in control” here: Sovereignty of God vs. Free Will – Is God in Control? “God, send revival!” “We put this into the hands of God”? “We are all sinners anyway!” How careful should we be with our words?
TODAY is the day of salvation. Today is the day of repentance. (2 Corinthians 6:2) Now – we run, NOW you run into the perfect fullness of the extreme – no limits – raging river of the love of God, Daddyo. The love of Jesus. The love of the Holy Spirit and intimate friendship with all 3 – based on the blood, the death, the obedience, and the resurrection of Christ. You are perfect in the eyes of God – through faith in that alone.
The Romans 8 solution – repent into the goodness, kindness, and love of God
The mind set on the Spirit = perfect friendship now for free. Rejection is an absolute lie!! Receive it step into it by faith – regardless of emotions telling you no, your mind telling you no, the demons telling you no. Be a mature adult, use your free will, stop being a little hurt emotional child. That is your job. God tells you, commands you to do it – in love for you – He says it. But He cannot and will not do it for you – it is your choice to believe whether He loves you or not.
So set your mind on the Spirit, the love and perfection of Heaven of God, the fruit of the Spirit – not on the sinful flesh.
And – do self-deliverance and get deliverance through others
Like Jesus said to people and the devil directly: Get behind me, Satan. (Matthew 16:23). Satan left Jesus for a season, for He did not fall to the temptations (Luke 4:13). Jesus in that context actually commanded the enemy to leave Him as well (Matthew 4:10). So we can both command the demons in us to come up and out through our breath. And we can command the enemy around us – tempting us – to leave us in the name of Jesus.
And renewal of the mind (not removal 😉)
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:1-2
And – the full discipleship life of enduring suffering and misunderstanding, being patient, being humble
Will We Be Perfect in This Life?
We are absolutely as perfect as God, as Jesus Himself in the eyes and judgment of the Father through the blood of Jesus. Will we be completely perfect in the body – in the flesh – in the sinful nature – in this life? No! Never. The very atoms in our body are under the curse and will burn under the renewal of the earth. God knows we are dust and Jesus was tempted in every way (Psalm 103:14, Hebrews 4:15) and Paul says in our flesh dwells no good thing (Romans 7:18). But should we give up on striving for it (not that I have already obtained it – Philippians 3:12), confessing (James 5:16, 1 John 1:9) and repenting from sin to good freeing kingdom of God truth (Mark 1:14-15) immediately (Matthew 5:25). And we need to train ourselves to live with our minds focused on the Spirit – for that is how we overcome sin and live in health, wisdom, holiness, obedience, grace, fire, and fruitfulness (Romans 8). Thereby we show ourselves to be my disciples – by bearing much fruit (John 15:8). We will get our resurrection bodies one day (Philippians 3:20-21) – and then, we will be fully perfect by getting rid of this body of sin (Romans 6:6). That will be a GOOD day (1 Corinthians 15:35-58)! And it is now nearer now than when we first believed (Romans 13:11). It will happen when Jesus returns again to judge the living and the dead.
Will we be completely perfect in this life? No – for we have a sinful physical body that is fallen! But should we give up on striving for it, repenting from sin immediately – turning to the Spirit, the Father, and the Son Who live in us? No. We focus our mind on the fullness of God, the intimate friendship with God, the Word of God and the assignments of God – the fullness of discipleship. Thereby we overcome. Thereby we live. Thereby we bear much fruit. We live out the God-life – that is within us through being born-again true kids of the Creator, our Daddyo. We repent to the wholehearted goodness of God and we use our authority which we have in Christ.
We live lives – choosing to follow Jesus, our Master – Who called us.
We live according to this pattern in Mark 3:13-15 – He (1) appointed twelve (2) willing people that (3) they might be with him and (4) that he might send them out (5) to preach and (6) to have authority to drive out demons.
