Heresy Hunters and “Exposed” Ministries, Part 3 – False Prophets, Fruit, and Grace to Grow
Jesus warned about false prophets, yet grace allows for errors of growth – Part 3 looks at fruit, “I never knew you,” and how to judge without accusing.
(Acts 17:11: Please learn to do your own Bible studies like this one – here.)
This Bible study on heresy hunters has 3 parts:
- Part 1 – Testing for Error With a Humble Heart
- Part 2 – Cessationism and Confronting Real Heresy
- Part 3 – False Prophets, Fruit, and Grace to Grow (you are here)
(Continued from Part 2.)
Matthew 24:4-5 Analyzed and Interpreted
All right – let’s do a Bible and Word Study – what does the Bible say? Let’s to our very best – knowing it is possible to a higher and higher degree – lay aside our theological pre-conceived ideas as well as our own limited experience.
Let’s lay aside our limiting fears, our bad past experiences our respect for parents (when they are not correct), church leaders (when they are not going for the fullness of God) and fear of what people will think (if you live for recognition – you will die when people don’t recognize you).
Let’s study the Word in depth and honestly – looking at first – the Words of Jesus:
Matthew 24:4-5 (ESV) – And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.
This really sums it ALL up! How good is Jesus and the LETTERS in RED = the words He said!! By the way – His actions in the gospels should also be in RED! He himself says that the one who hears AND does – that person’s house will stand.
He will always rule as King over all J. But what does Jesus say here? He says, literally, that people will say: I am the Christ. That is not what any Christians – who are getting “exposed” are saying.
But, that is very clearly what the New Age movement, the mix of Hinduism, Buddhism and Western thinking is saying: You are God. You are your own God. You make your own rules. You are “the Christ”. You have Christ consciousness.
So, Jesus is not dealing with born again Christians, who, filled by the Holy Spirit operate in the power and authority of Jesus – as simple disciples. As Christians we do not say: I am the Christ = I am your Savior, I am God, I am the Christ. We say: I was a sinner.
I have been saved by grace through the cross and the blood, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Now: I am a saint, a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ, a disciple, who is here to manifest the will of God in the flesh through the power of the Holy Spirit.
In Matthew 24:11 Jesus talks more into warnings about false prophets:
And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.
And
5 See that no one leads you astray. 6 Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray.
Again – this cannot refer to the Christians who do not call themselves “Christ” / “Messiah” / “Savior” / “God” / “a great light” / “Mediator between God and Man” / “Jesus who has returned”. A true Christian will always preach Jesus – as the only mediator between God and humans, the cross, the death, the blood, the resurrection in the flesh – as the only solution to the problem of sin, rebellion, the fall, the mess.
1 Timothy 2:5-6a – For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.
And Luke 21:8
See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them.
This, on the other hand, is what the gurus will preach. The New Age Masters. They will say: “I am he, I am the re-incarnated Christ consciousness.”
So – if you are a cessationist (please look up the definition online – and read my Bible study about this theological perspective) – you are set up for a trap by the enemy on this one.
You already believe prophets and apostles are not for today – the gifts of the Holy Spirit are not for today – and this will then trigger you if a Christian says: I believe genuine Biblical New Testament prophets are and should still be around, like Agabus, and like Paul who was not one of the 12, and of course prophets should prophesy like Agabus – and move strongly in the supernatural – and train all of us to do the same (according to Ephesians 4:11-14).
If I have somehow convinced those of you who were cessationists, you will now need to go out and tear down your pre-conceived ideas about cessationism. To be straight: if you don’t, in that area of theology, you are doing the work of the enemy. You are limiting what God does.
You are tearing down what God is trying to build up. By saying this – I am not saying you are not genuinely trying to do what is right – and serve God by doing it. And I am not saying you are not a Christian.
I am simply saying – your theological doctrinal foundation is off – and you are spreading criticism, ridicule, lies, tearing down the work of the Holy Spirit – helping out the enemy. So, we must deal with whether or not cessationism is right.
A Tree and Its Fruit
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits.
Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
I Never Knew You
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
But what about this Scripture? Sure, Christian Prophets will mess up in all kinds of ways at times – why? They are human – you have messed up things too – why should they not? Did the Apostles of Jesus mess up – even after they received and were baptized in the Holy Spirit and were writing the Bible? YES! Should we hold all accountable in love for not living holy, truthfully, lovingly, with justice – according to the life of Jesus – YES – especially those in Christian leadership.
So, to make mistakes, be proud, have failures – to proclaim something wrong, is a necessary part of growing as a Christian and a prophet. If there is zero tolerance for mistakes – we create fear of trying. That is not helpful in an education – and not in the education to become a disciple either. When we do not try – we do not grow. We are supposed to grow.
So, are they the prophets Jesus is referring to here Christians? NO – they are the prophets of Islam, Hinduism, New Age, Clairvoyants, Nostradamus, Politicians, Leaders who are into occultism, Tarot Card Readers, Astrologers, etc. They fit the bill of this Scripture completely – not Christians who sometimes fail to seek the Father.
To be honest – part of the job of a prophet is to say things – and those prophets who lead many astray have much influence over others – so if cessationism is 100% wrong – cessationists themselves have a huge problem with Jesus here – and they really do.
So – with verses 15-20 – in the end of the day – the fruit of what you do will show. Are your disciples full of criticism? Or are they full of life, faith, fire and health – bearing Gospel and Acts level fruit – and are they freely fellowshipping with all kinds of Christians – lifting them up? And what is the mix – are there areas of health and areas of bad fruit?
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Matthew 7:21-23
With 21-23 – This Is One of the Main Problems Here
New Agers call Jesus a “Lord among many Lords and enlightened persons”.
The full context of the Bible – with the understanding of “Righteousness by faith” – all who are born again are continually forgiven and perfect and are always – in the eyes of the Father – because He sees Jesus, when He sees us, judged to be doing the will of the Father who is in heaven.
So, this Scripture cannot be for Christians who are born again and who believe in Jesus – for they are perfectly loved – the cross and the blood takes away all our sin 24/7 forever. A title for us who believe in Jesus is not: “worker of lawlessness”.
And someone who even once believed in Jesus is not labeled like Jesus like this: “I never knew you”. That is someone who was never saved – at any point in their life. So, again, it is not a Scripture for struggling Christians.
With the casting out demons, prophesy, and mighty works – many Christians – especially cessationists completely miss out on the right interpretation because they do not know that the enemy, satan, and his little demons, have great power as well.
Since demons are fallen angels – they can do similar things to what the non-fallen – true angels can do. See the story of Moses and Aaron and the snakes of the occultists – which were eaten by the “snake of God”.
Witches, warlocks, clairvoyants, occultists, etc. – they claim to cast out demons, cleanse houses, heal the sick, and do other mighty works. The Antichrist will do many mighty works according to the Book of Revelation. In Egypt the magicians could follow the miracles of Moses up to a certain point.
Please – in this perspective – listen through this former witch – as she talks of healing, deliverances, house cleanings and prophecies done by witches – that look similar to what we do in the church – but are fully demonic: YouTube
I have seen new Christians and people called to follow Christ – as well as occultists – who fulfill this Scripture exactly – but not truly born-again Spirit filled Christians who didn’t spend enough time alone with Dad – even though we must spend much quality time alone with Daddyo.
Accusations of Someone’s Intention and Heart
Can there be some so called and so titled prophet out there who fully preach Christ crucified, preach the blood, repentance from sin, to holiness and obedience, who love Christians, the church local and universal, who loves the Word, loves prayer, loves the presence of God – but who intentionally deceives, misleads, does it all for profit, proclaims to have heard God, when they have not.
YES – is it all over the place? NO! Very few and very rarely does that happen – and the fruits are exposed, and their ministries are stopped.
Much more often than not the real reason an “exposing” ministry is running is due to one or more of the reasons below
- Holding onto “the traditions of man” as Jesus mentioned
- “not knowing the power of God” as Jesus mentioned
- Being hurt by wrong practice of the charismata (the grace power gifts of the Holy Spirit)
- That person having a demon, which “inspires” them
- The worst: that that ministry actually is knowingly self-aware that they are occult and satanic – trying to cause division and hurt – but that is extremely rare – most often it is well-meaning Christians – who are modern-day pharisees (exposed / heresy hunter / fault-finders)
What keeps them there is blindness, pride, and the fear of man (what will people (friends / colleagues) think) instead of the true “fear” of God (what will God think) – like Jesus accused the Pharisees, Sadducees, teachers of the law and lawyers of His time of.
So repent, humble yourselves, false teachers – turn from your sin, your unbelief, your accusations, slander, denigration, casting suspicion on, your tearing apart – and bear fruit in keeping with repentance. Cook you own meal – make your own brand new disciples from scratch – who heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, fill people with the Holy Spirit, find people of peace and disciple them – and then teach them to do that to others.
Become truly like Paul who was blinded by God – to show him his true state before Jesus (he thought he saw) – who repents and does not go against and grieves the work of the Holy Spirit – but give us all you have, like for instance Jack Deere (find his books online), who was a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary, a very strongly cessationist Bible School in the buckle of the Bible belt, who then realized that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today.
____________________________________________
To Get This Right – We Must
- Correctly Understand Righteousness by Faith Alone (please read my Bible study on that by clicking on this link) AND how New Agers like Reiki Healers, Witches, and Warlocks use the name of Jesus – to help get the right interpretation of: “Lord, Lord, did we not do miracles in your name.” from Matthew 7:22.
- 3 things are important here
- It is possible to say: “Lord, Lord”, to Jesus / God / the Holy Spirit – both the false and true (for we see demons lying and calling themselves god, the Holy Spirit and Jesus all the time), and yet – and to have believed you have seen demons cast out, seen healings, and other miracles of prophecy etc.
- So how does this fit with the Scripture: No one can call Jesus Lord except they do it by the Spirit of God?
- Bear fruit: What if people genuinely repent of sin and turn to faith in Jesus alone, they then become disciples and make disciples, and in that process, they are healed and delivered and trained to do that to others and are added to the ecclesia (the “called out assembly of believers” https://biblehub.com/greek/1577.htm).
- Do not be an evildoer: What if they stop doing evil but walk in the fruit of the Spirit. Yet – the ARE NOT perfect. Even the Apostle Peter sinned and was NOT perfect in every way. Paul and Barnabas got in a fight – and separated!
- And what if you look at this key Scripture on salvation: John 16:9 – which underlines that there is just ONE sin – which is also the unforgivable sin – that we do not believe in Jesus and thus receive forgiveness. The only unforgivable sin then, is that you do not want to get the forgiveness of God. It goes against the laws of love to force that free offer on you. When we believe in Jesus, as Paul says: He became sin, that we might be the righteousness of God in Him. So, when God looks at us, we are as perfect as Jesus – as the Father – as the Holy Spirit – as God.
- When we believe – all sin is washed away 24/7 – simply by faith in Him. Hebrews 9:22-28, Hebrews 10:22, 2 Peter 1:9, 1 John 1:9, 1 John 1:6-10.
- Those 3 facts lead to a clear conclusion of interpretation of this Scripture
- 1. Evildoers are those who are not born-again by the Spirit of God. Someone who is born again is perfect in the eyes of God – not an evildoer (also if they are committing and struggling with some kind of sin).
- 2. Having seen miracles happen – even deliverance, and house cleansings, healings, and clear prophetic (occult / demonic power) etc. is possible.
- 3. The biggest test from God is fruit (there is also good doctrine, good lifestyle). Do they lead people to more of the Jesus we see in the Bible? Occultists do not do this – but Christians who are newly-born again, or who have not been set free from demons, or have not understood their identity, or have not fully understood deep repentance and deep inner healing of the soul, or who are struggling to spend heart to heart, non-religious, quality time with their Daddy in Heaven – this scripture is NOT for them.
- THE CONCLUSION: The ones Jesus is talking about here are occult – not born again by the spirit of God and therefore “evildoers”. They are reiki healers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzNN5mSTO2Y), new agers practicing “white healing”, “long distance healing”, warlords, witches, clairvoyants (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7_Gbh73o-4), New Age “meditation practitioners”, who see the supernatural happen in and through them – but it is demonic. It is demons masquerading as angels, and as the Holy Spirit and Jesus (as only a “highly enlightened one” – not the Savior of the world through His death on the cross, His blood, and His obedience of love toward each one of us individually and globally – taking all our sin on Him – and us turning from all sin to perfect forgiveness through Jesus and intimate friendship with your Daddyo).
- The conclusion is therefore:
- Get born again. Then you are perfect and then b.:
- Go on the road of the Christian life: sanctification, holiness, discipleship, obedience, understanding, action, simplicity, suffering, boldness, freedom, learning to heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead, prophesy, multiply yourself into others, open your home for Christian fellowship, turn your home into a place of miracles, etc.
Grace! Allowing for Errors of Growth – Without Calling People Heretics, False Teachers
Grace Is Core to Everything. Grace – Giving Grace, Giving People Grace to Grow
There will always be people who fail as they try to grow. Humans make mistakes and errors at times – even the best. Also, with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They are still there – even though people do not have perfect theology or live sin-less. Should we not address it?
We should address it, but in the attitude of Matthew 18:15-20 and with all the help of prayer, discipleship, grace, faith in them to be wanting to repent, doing good strong Bible studies, doing healthy discipleship and deliverance well, and all the honor we can muster.
The heresy hunters would have a ball with the apostles Peter and Paul. Peter wouldn’t eat with the gentiles. He didn’t want Jesus to go to the cross – and fully denied Him 3 times. Paul talked about “women being saved through childbirth” and “being baptized for the dead”.
All the disciples promised Jesus to never leave Him. They all did.
Mary and her brothers came to pick up Jesus and take Him home – for they thought He had gone off the deep end. The Jerusalem Council “we and the Holy Spirit” decided that people should stay away from blood and meat from strangled animals – even though Peter had just been told – kill and eat all the unclean animals – and Jesus clearly declared all food clean.
So… can we relax a little with all the aggressive “exposed”, “heresy hunting”, “false teacher”, “false prophet” which to me are pharisaical, fear of trying, accusations from the accuser – more than they are proper Matthew 18:15-20 procedures – and often coming from people who are not executing on the fullness of Matthew 10 or Luke 10 and who have wrong interpretation of “Lord, Lord, did we not cast out demons in your name?” and the first and second judgment, as well as justification by faith alone?
The disciples were nowhere near perfect. Only One is. Let’s be careful not to let the accuser use us to accuse dear children of God.
Where Is There Room in Your “Exposure” Ministry for Mistakes?
Just to underline this again.
The disciples DID NOT GET – that the gospel was actually also for the non-Jews!! Peter the apostle was a hypocrite not wanting to eat with non-Jews for fear of the Christian Jews! That was AFTER Peter was appointed by Jesus to lead the church.
After he was filled with the Holy Spirit by Jesus Himself. After he had raised the dead, cast out demons, preached to thousands, and before he wrote the letters – that went in the Bible!! Where is your theology for that? Grow up, please!
Stop exposing your brothers and sisters who, yes, are in various forms of fear and error – but SO ARE YOU! I only know One Who is perfect! And I know I needed deliverance – even as a born again minister and leader in a growing church.
Start actually helping by exposing the occult, fighting the real enemy, the demons, and doing deliverance, and staying humble and lifting all people up and maturely practicing Matthew 18:15-20.
My Heartfelt Challenge to Strong Bible Believing Christians
- Be nuanced
- Be balanced
- Be truly Biblical
- Focus on heart and intention first – not first on mistakes and errors
- Watch out for pride – self-righteousness – wearing a mask and a façade of perfection. Read this story and read yourself into it: blueletterbible.org
- Be humble, be broken, be honest and open about all your mistakes, weaknesses, sins, sicknesses, and errors. Seek the doctor, Jesus, for yourself, first. Then heal others. That’s our true ministry of love.
- Do not follow cessationists and other exposed video creators, for they take life, they cast doubt, they create fear, and that is the opposite of faith. They are the Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes, Lawyers and Herodians of our time in certain areas of doctrine – even though many of them are truly born-again believers trying sincerely to do the will of God. Some of what they do might be great – but other areas they are greatly mistaken.
- Allow for error – for training – for falling – that is what fathering is all about. That’s what Jesus did with His disciples. So, expect it to happen. Know it will happen. See it as a necessary thing on the way to getting better and improving in being disciples.
- Build on relationship first – like Jesus did with His disciples. Mark 3:14 says – He called them “to be with Him” – first.
- Rebuke sin – but do it one on one first (if at all possible) – then 2/3 on 1 – then “all their local accountability family” on 1 – as Jesus said in Matthew 18:15-20
- Honor all the good that anyone does – and do not broadly condemn them – but focus specifically on the bad – while also honoring the good. Be mature!
- Be slow to anger – quick to mercy
- Focus on practicing all that Jesus practiced and trained His disciples to do – and you will have plenty to do with all the fruit you bear.
- Re-read and remember all the points above continually – while healing the sick, casting out demons, filling people with the Holy Spirit, prophesying, raising the dead, baptizing people in the Holy Spirit & fire, leading people to repentance – starting with you being humble, broken, coming from below all others – to serve. Walk out the broken holiness of God in action.
False False Teacher / False Prophet Teaching
So, instead of accusing all who make mistakes to be false prophets or teachers (when they really love Jesus – but of course have areas of error) – what about – “partly mistaken” teacher (as you are yourself)? Just like the disciples. How about “human who makes a mistake” teacher?? While striving to be better. AND here is all the awesome teaching they have given. Honor the good!
If that is even the case!! Even the devil says things, that are partly true – so do you and I at times!! Only Jesus is PERFECT!! Let the one without sin cast the first stone… NOW!! Or stop it.
AND a huge YES: There are completely false teachers with a false “salvation” messages and all sorts of mixes in there: New Age Masters, Mullahs, Atheists – or Christians who preach good works like circumcision, baptism, or penance in order to be truly forgiven. Their very core theology is seriously off = false. Because the cross & the blood of Jesus is NOT there at all, even though it is the only way to achieve son-ship, righteousness by faith, one-ness with God, salvation, Heaven – not Hell, etc.!!
But do not forget we are all being influenced and even manipulated at times by the enemy, by culture, by others, by ourselves (own sin, ambition, pride, jealousy, lust etc.).
That is why we need the Holy Spirit, we need to spend quality time with our Dad (like Jesus did), we need good brothers and sisters around us, we need the Bible, a truly healthy on fire local church that has a healthy 5-fold ministry team leading it and is filled with the Holy Spirit and fire, does deliverance, reaches new people effectively etc..
I’d Rather Be a Chef Than a Food Critic. What About You?
It’s much harder to actually build something great than to tear it down. What would you like to do? Jesus did some tearing down – but those He attacked the most – were the self-righteous, hypocritical Pharisees – and then He strongly rebuked His disciples – so they could be better – not to condemn them – even though they made many mistakes.
Let’s be creators and artists under and in deep relationship with our Creator & Artist Dad. Let’s be builders like Joseph and Jesus. Let’s tear down all religion (empty non loving rules and accusations) and build relationship with good loving rules.
I say…
Christians globally – please be nuanced!! You are supposed to be smarter than this! You are supposed to be mature and nuanced. You are supposed to do what Paul said and did: 1 Thessalonians 5:21 = Test all things. Hold fast to what is good.
And in context it is an even stronger word for the global church to grow up and be strong.
1 Thessalonians 5:19-22
Do not extinguish the Spirit.
Do not treat prophecies with contempt,
but test all things.
Hold fast to what is good.
Amen!
Thank You for Reading
May this turn out to be true well-spent kingdom time. At least there is a lot of raw Scripture quotes. May the Word of God stand forever and truly speak for itself.
Let’s Meet and Talk – That Is Biblical According to Matthew 5:21-26 & 18:15-17
As the final thing. I am open to meeting, to talking, to dialoguing, to praying for each other, to worshipping King Jesus, the Father & the Holy Spirit together, to entering into the talks about this as co-disciples, co-laborers in the Harvest of the original Master, Jesus, of the Bible. Of course, I have a schedule and a life and tasks from the Father to do. But I do love others and want to honor others.
Meet Me or Others Who Do This Personally – See This for Yourself
Also, you are welcome to come meet me. You are welcome to walk with me on the streets – and see the sick healed with your own eyes. You are welcome to come and see the demons cast out at our meetings with your own eyes.
You are welcome to come and talk with people who have been raised from the dead – and maybe you can even join us where we go for raising the dead – and it can even happen before you.
Just remember, seeing those things in Jesus’ life didn’t even persuade all the Pharisees (it did persuade some).
A Section on the Website
Finally, I am planning to have a section on the website, ActionChristianity.com for “Accusations and Answers” (maybe some other title will go there).
