Holy Spirit Baptism and Speaking in Tongues – How to Be Filled and Help Others

Speaking in tongues and being baptized in the Holy Spirit are a free gift for every believer – here is the biblical basis, simple action steps, and a prayer to get you started.

How to Be Filled with the Holy Spirit & Speak in Tongues & Help Others Experience the Same

1. As you hear this and get this – remember – it is for you for free – and then it is for others through you for free – and for them to teach others for free.
2. I will pray for you to start to get activated in the prayer language of the Holy Spirit – and to remain in that. You can easily do this as well. It is literally to step out and start doing it. That’s where faith is at.
3. The biggest ingredient is radical thirst – based on the radical love of God. Please hear these words coming directly from Jesus now:

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

John 7:37-39

4. This is such an important gift to keep speaking in tongues and to ask for the interpretation for yourself – to begin to hear from God and move in all the other gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is like an easy foundational gift. So do not give up. You can do this – under God – in God – through God – only.

Theological Basis

When we believe in Jesus, something amazing happens. We become Christians when we believe He rose from the dead, is alive, and we decide to make Him Lord – Leader of our lives.

God then gives us the biggest, most amazing gift – the Holy Spirit – His own Spirit – Who comes to live inside us – in our spirit man. The Bible says – we are born again by the Spirit of God, when we believe in Jesus.

This amazing gift, the gift of the Person of the Holy Spirit, who is God, can do that because when we believe, then we also believe Jesus took all our sin on Him – and we are pure, perfect and right with God – because of Jesus dying on the cross for us.

The Amazing Consequences

When you believe in Jesus as Romans 10:9-10 describes – the Holy Spirit lives in you and has come with all His power and all his gifts. This means it is on you to seek God to open up yourself and train yourself to understand and activate the gifts that are already placed in you – and step out trusting you have them.

Action Steps to Experience Being Filled with the Holy Spirit & Speaking in Tongues

1. Make sure you believe in Jesus. It’s never a matter of feelings or emotions, but a confession and a conviction of a reality we cannot see – we are convinced Jesus conquered death.
2. Understand the Holy Spirit already lives in you with all His power and gifts for all believers.
3. Spend good amounts of time in Worship. Lift up Jesus with your whole heart, strength, mind and soul, thanking Him, knowing the Holy Spirit already lives in you.
4. Pray believing Jesus will make His power and presence manifest in and through you by the Holy Spirit.
5. Step out in action steps believing that you will be able to speak in tongues, hear from God, heal the sick, cast out demons and see great answers to prayer happen through you. As you pray and worship step out in faith speaking in whatever words and languages that comes to mind.
6. Ask people in your Home Fellowship to pray for you and stand with you in experiencing the Baptism and power of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
7. Don’t give up, but do what Paul encouraged us to do in 1 Corinthians 14:1-5: Eagerly desire the gifts – especially that you would prophesy and know that Jesus wants us to experience the power and presence of the Holy Spirit – and encourages us to go for it with faith in Luke 11:1-13.

Now I Will Pray for You

1. And there is no distance in the Spirit – and there is no distance in time. The Holy Spirit is near you now – no matter if you feel it or not.
2. You already have all the Holy Spirit in you simply by faith in Jesus. And He already has all the gifts in you – so the full measure of the Holy Spirit. The complete Holy Spirit. All of the Holy Spirit of God – Who raised Jesus from the dead – lives in you – now. So you have the gift of tongues – and you can speak in tongues.
3. I will pray in tongues – and just open yourself up to God the Father and say: In the name of Jesus – I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit. Then go for it with me – pray in tongues. You can use my words to start with – just to provoke your brain to stop trying to speak English or whatever your preferred language is. For as Paul said: Your mind is unfruitful when you pray in tongues. It is a spirit language. So let your Spirit speak by the Holy Spirit. It will sound foolish – but it is the wisdom of God.
4. I will pray for some time – then encourage you some more. Then pray again and encourage you some more. Even commanding fear to go – false tongues to go, asking for boldness, asking for a baptism of love and peace. Etc.

When we are done – be encouraged – God is with you and has already given you the kingdom and all the gifts through the fullness of the Spirit – you just need to step out and do it.
