Why is knowing how to study the Bible so important?
In Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus said: 24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Do you want a life that truly stands when the storm comes? Hear the words of Jesus and do them. Then the house of your life will STAND.
Hebrews 4:12 says For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Do you want to be able to separate what is truly from God and what is from people or demons (not God, lies and half-truths which are full lies) – then know and fully practice the lifestyle and commands of Jesus in the Word of God. The more the better and stronger.
God is calling us to positively, proactively wash ourselves and our minds with the loving words of God (Romans 12:1-2): Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Use your Bible during this Bible study about Bible study
Before you start – let me encourage you to have a Bible with you and to look up the Scriptures I quote or refer to yourself. After all, the topic here is how to personally learn to extract eternal truth from the Bible for ourselves. Studying the Bible takes work – but how important that work is!
My Experience
Using the principles here I have been set free from many half-truths, which are half lies, which then cause a major limitation or misdirection – even though they might sound right and eloquent. I have deeply studied subjects using only the Bible like:
- What is true love
- How to personally seek and find God
- Grace & Forgiveness
- Repentance
- Righteousness by faith
- Baptism in water
- How important it is to be a part of and serve in a local church that looks like churches did in the Book of Acts
- The importance of original Jesus-style discipleship including: Mark 3:13-15 + Matt & Luke 10
- The supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit
- The ministry of Jesus and the disciples as well as simple New Testament discipleship
- What are false teachers, heresy, and how to find truth
- Raising the dead
- Angels and demons and casting out demons and working with angels
- Dating, sex, and marriage
- Being a good spouse to my wife and a good dad to my kids
- And many many other crucial subjects
You can find the results of those studies on this website www.ActionChristianity.com and in my teachings on the Action Christianity YouTube channel and other social media sites. I am now truly making a difference, being used by God to practice Matthew and Luke 10 – just like the first direct disciples of Jesus, and I am able to live more holy and obedient – being a Friend of God.
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT – because gaining confidence in this space gives you confidence and boldness to fight, to stand, and to resist and confront and expose and deal with the doubt, accusations, limitations, lies, deception, fear, hate, and suspicion of the enemy – also when it comes from current day church leaders (the Pharisees of Jesus’ day: Matthew 22:15, Matthew 12:22-32), close friends (Peter correcting Jesus: Matthew 16:22-28), and loving family (Jesus’ own family thinking Jesus is crazy and they come to “take him home” – Mark 3:20-21 and he refers to obedient believers as His real family: Mark 3:31-35).
Below is the biggest and most important truth to get into the foundation of your heart and mind:

Studying and understanding the Bible is for YOU!
It is not only for a pastor / leader / theologian / church.
God would not let His personal love letter and His life manual for you, who is His truly honored child, be unreadable / incomprehensible.
Is that truth in the Bible? Yes – here 1 John 2:20 AMP But you have an anointing from the Holy One [you have been set apart, specially gifted and prepared by the Holy Spirit], and all of you know [the truth because He teaches us, illuminates our minds, and guards us from error].
And here: 1 John 2:27 AMP 27 As for you, the anointing [the special gift, the preparation] which you received from Him remains [permanently] in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But just as His anointing teaches you [giving you insight through the presence of the Holy Spirit] about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as His anointing has taught you, you must remain in Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him].
Anything else, below that, is at the end of the day a lie from the enemy, the devil. It is a limitation, a deception, a trip-wire to keep you from what is yours from God. As you will see below – the above truth is found in the Word of God – so it is true forever. Our choice to accept fears and to have a lack of faith is based on lies and limitations that originate from our enemy, the devil and his demons.
Truth is hopefully obviously for us all – foundational. It is non-negotiable, essential, and critical to strength, life, love, and reality. The alternative is deception, lies, half-truths, law breaking, and transgression – as well as punishment if we break true laws of living life well. As Christians we must “receive the love of the truth” – or we will “go astray”: 2 Thess. 2:9- 11: The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, 10 and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. 11 For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie.
Let’s passionately receive love for the truth – the love of God. The truth from God – truly sets us free (John 8:32) to love, live, judge with grace, mercy and justice, to truly live in real friendship with God – Who is Truth (John 8:36), to be humble, to be broken, to live in repentance.
THE WRITTEN AND THE LIVING WORD
God is, according to the Bible, eternal Truth in spiritual and Personal form and substance (https://www.openbible.info/topics/eternal_truth) and He therefore hates lies and injustice. And God is not relative – He is absolute truth, love, and grace and all other good and perfect things come from Him. We relate to Him, are created by Him, and He is eternal and unchangeable – and knows ALL things perfectly – and He is creative, living, alive, a person, our BEST Friend, our Daddyo, – and NOT boring and NOT stuck in a time-loop. AND here it comes. God IS His Word – the Bible – in living form. God identifies 100% with His Word. Jesus is called “The Living Word” and is true to everything He says. Jesus is the Bible in living personal Friendship form. The Words in the Bible represent God as He is – when they truly describe the character, the personality of God. So God is eternally loyal to and true to what He said. God’s words stand forever and are entrusted to us in the Bible.
WORK REQUIRED
Truth does take some true work, focus and energy to find, and it takes humility. Humility is equal to acknowledging that we need help, we are not perfect, we need to learn and grow and in some areas we are even sick – and need deep and real healing. Real truth from God heals and sets free. Humility and repentance, which is to change you mind and actions from a lie to the truth, always go together. The Book of Proverbs 25:2 says: It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings. According to the Bible – we are those kings (Rev 5:10): You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.
When there is truth, there is also lies, and half-truths. Satan lied to Adam & Eve – they believed it – acted on it. Satan lied to Jesus to tempt Him off course. Jesus quoted the truth of the Word and Satan left for a time. One of the many names of Satan is “the father of lies” In John 8:44 Jesus spoke to the religious self-righteous prideful people of His day: You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
The first thing Jesus preached was repentance. That means changing your mind from lies to truth. To do that requires humility – because we have to admit we were wrong before we found the truth. And there are so many “so called” truths – and opinions – even among Christian leaders and churches! And many are so directly conflicting that they cannot be reconciled, and many are in conflict with the Truth as it is clear enough in the Bible.
Why would we even want or need truth? Because true truth is also perfect eternal true love. It is true wisdom enabling us to make wise true real choices in life. The Word of God, the Bible, contains true truths about having great relationships, true honor, true purity and holiness, justice, true power etc.
The Bible says in Hosea 4:6: My people perish for lack of knowledge. We will perish if we do not acquire truth, wisdom, and knowledge from the Word.
And in 2 Thess. 2:10 “We perish because we do not receive the love of the truth.”
And one of the names of Jesus is Truth (John 14:6). So, according to the Bible, Jesus is Truth – Personified. All He is, does and says is pure eternal truth. He can be nothing but true Truth.
The Bible also says, Jesus is the Living Word – and the Bible is the written Word (John 1:1-5 + 9-13 + 14-18). The Bible also says; the fullness of Your Word is Truth (Psalm 119:160).
So many churches think and speak and practice different things about for instance baptism, deliverance, the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit, tithing, holiness, righteousness etc. AND very few leaders and therefore even fewer followers move in the fullness of the power of the Holy Spirit like Jesus and the early disciples. We need to understand how we can change that – primarily by living it out ourselves. Only by studying the Word of God correctly ourselves and practicing it ourselves and learning from those who do this well, taking complete self-responsibility, can we do that.

HAVE A PASSION FOR GAINING REAL UNDERSTANDING, REAL TRUTH, REAL INSIGHT AND KNOWLEDGE
Please just read and obey these amazing Scriptures:
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 4:5-7 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will guard you. Wisdom is supreme; so, acquire wisdom. And whatever you may acquire, gain understanding.
Proverbs 18:15 The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks it out.
Proverbs 23:23 Invest in truth and never sell it—in wisdom and instruction and understanding.
Ecclesiastes 7:12 Wisdom is a defense as money is a defense, But the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.
Matthew 13:44 The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and in his joy he went and sold all he had and bought that field.
But – how do we extract true Truth from the Bible – the eternal spoken and written Word of God? How do we find truth for ourselves there? Truth which is truly true – from Jesus, from God the Father, eternal real truth – no just stuff that our church leaders teach, or traditions teach, or our family or culture believes, or we just think is true due to experiences – but which Jesus truly taught and did?
TOOLS OF OUR TRADE
Fortunately, we have lots of help to do this today. We have Google search, free online Bible study tools, free online Bibles etc. All of which I have used extensively during the writing of this teaching. And most importantly we who believe in Jesus have been given the Holy Spirit – Who lives inside us and helps us see and understand the Word of God, the Will of God, the Truth of God, the call and plans of God, and the character of God (1 John 2:27): As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in Him. Jesus said (John 16:3): But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.
Freeing yourself from limitations, religion, half-truths, and lies is not optional work. It is your own responsibility before God. The best way to get free is to believe in and act on what is true! That is what this Scripture says (John 7:17): Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.
QUICK SELF TEST
Just an immediate test of yourself – of your own truth-seeking level: Have you looked up the Scriptures above yourself in your own Bible – also scoping out the context before and after – to verify that what I write is there as I say? Have you checked the context – if I have taken things out of context? Have you checked the cross-reference verses and the context of the verses if it matches. Does it match classical, evangelical, Bible believing doctrine?
I encourage you: you can – you should, you must. Our decisions and core beliefs have true eternal consequences – we live them out! This is that important. It cannot get more important than this.
HOW TRUSTWORTHY IS THE BIBLE?
If you are hesitant to believe the Bible because there are so many critical voices against it – please read these articles:

1. https://coldcasechristianity.com/category/writings/bible/
2. https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/why-you-can-trust-your-bible/
3. https://www.christianity.com/bible/apologetics/the-trustworthiness-ofscripture.html
Please also continue reading here as the Bible itself is proof that it is truly fully inspired as the perfect inerrant Word of God to us.
What is the Bible from a birds-eye perspective? It is
1. A love letter from our Daddyo
2. A life manual about life and this world from our caring Father
3. A revealer of what this life is all about – so we can live out the meaning and purpose of life
4. A guide of wisdom – so we can make a true eternal difference, bear much fruit thereby glorfying our Father (John 15:8), maximize ourselves and be a disciple who makes disciples who make disciples
5. The inspired eternal inerrant Words of God. And we worship a God who is the Living Word – who inspired the written Word.
How do you make your own accurate Bible studies?
We must get our foundations right theologically
1. Know the key unshakeable theological foundations and statements of the Bible and of the Christian faith – the things that we do not change because they are evident all over Scripture. And let’s agree to agree on the essentials – and that there can be disagreement over non-essentials. Yet – that we can and should passionately influence others to “obey ALL that Jesus commanded” His first 12 and 72 disciples – as well as the crowds (Matthew 28:20)
a. The Bible sums up the core of what we believe like this in 1 Cor 14:1-5: i. 1 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the Word, I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. b. Just a few of the churches who believe “the full monty” of all gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and all titles of the 5-fold are for today: i. https://encounterchurch.co.za/about-us/#sof ii. https://hungrygen.com/about/ iii. https://v1.church/beliefs/ iv. http://www.amazingchurch.nyc/about/ v. https://bethelatx.com/beliefs/ c. Other awesome churches and church movements who express the same core beliefs i. http://bridgetown.church/wpcontent/uploads/2022/04/bridgetown_church_statement_of_belief.p df ii. https://ag.org/About/Official-Statements iii. https://www.vineyardchurches.org.uk/resources/statement-of-faith/ iv. https://antagoniz.wordpress.com/we-believe/ v. https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/about/foundationdocuments/#confessional-statement vi. https://hillsong.com/what-we-believe/ vii. https://thelastreformation.com/about-the-movement/what-webelieve-statement-of-faith/ viii. https://charismamag.com/website-information-articles/statement-offaith/ ix. https://newfrontierstogether.org/about-newfrontiers/ 1. From that website which is a beautiful walk through of some of the church history of confessions: What We Believe a. As contemporary evangelicals, we affirm modern statements such as the Evangelical Alliance statement of faith and the Lausanne Covenant. As part of the universal church, we also hold to the ecumenical creeds (the Apostles’, Nicene-Constantinopolitan, Chalcedonian and Athanasian Creeds). As Protestant Christians, we affirm that justification is by faith alone, and stand in the tradition of Reformation confessional documents like the Heidelberg Catechism, although we believe water baptism is only for believers.
2. Have you read through a good systematic theology book – going through the Scriptures there? Examples here:
a. Renewal Theology: Systematic Theology from a Charismatic Perspective, J. Rodman Williams b. Wayne Grudem: Systematic Theology c. Jesus the Lord according to Paul the Apostle: A Concise Introduction, Gordon D. Fee 3. I strongly encourage you: Make it a project to actually read or listen through the entire Bible once a year. It is a big book – but take time every day – for instance using the: “One Year Nicky Gumbel Bible Study Plan” on YouVersion / Bible.com a. Also, you can do a “Bible shred” – going through the entire Bible in 30 days even listening at double speed. Takes 2-3 hours every day for 40 days: https://www.bibleroadmaps.com/blog/reading-whole-bible-in-1-month

And we must get our heart right before God to actually get to the truth. HOW?
Our heart can be so confused, so deceived, so full of fear, limits, pride, and pre-conceived ideas that we pre-believe are right – but they are wrong or very inaccurate sometimes. It is essential and foundational for us to come to the Bible, Christianity, church, faith in Jesus with the utmost humility and freshness – as little children – believing in our good good Father (Matthew 18:3-4): Truly I tell you,” He said, “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Being truly heart-willing to learn, to grow, to build a brand-new foundation on the true Jesus – is so key. And, if there are things you do not understand – or that doesn’t make sense – yet, don’t let it offend or confuse you but ask around, talk with people who truly live with Jesus. Seek – and you will find. Knock and it will be opened to you. Ask, and you will receive.
We are called to always grow as it says here in Colossians 1:9-10 So, we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
Compare everything you hear and learn and what you currently believe with
1. What does the fullness of the council of the Word of God, the Bible (all verses on this subject in the Bible) say – especially the 4 Gospels and Acts – does the fruit, goals and expectations line up? See good study methods later in this article.
2. What have Christians believed and practiced for hundreds and thousands of years? And what does Jesus say in the Bible that has not been practiced? He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. Know that church history has been great the first years around the writing of the New Testament. Then a gradual decline – but then a gradual recovery of the truths and realities of the Bible from the reformation of Martin Luther till today. Let’s restore everything and live by everything we read.
3. Does it fit with the character and goodness of God? Or the opposite of the character of the enemy? See a fullness of the Word Bible study on that here:
a. https://1drv.ms/w/s!AjvPa8m88R2Bjo9G0s4K2fXpUHTK1Q
4. Does it fit with grace, the cross, the blood, righteousness by faith alone, through the Holy spirit alone, through Scripture alone, through grace alone, salvation through Jesus alone? This is what is called the red thread, the red line of the blood of Jesus, the cross of Jesus, the resurrection of Jesus – that goes throughout every book of the Bible and weaves the whole Bible together:
a. The cross: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AjvPa8m88R2BjowifGV0ezGnSKynqw
b. Justified by faith alone: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AjvPa8m88R2BjcxPKpJLDqvavOEKyQ?e=T2mAbn
5. Would Jesus have done it, said it, behaved like that? Where is in the New Testament? How did Jesus do it?
6. Is it true, logical (through faith), holy, light, love, justice, life, joy, peace or the opposite or a mix where you have to separate the truth from a half truth? Read more “word character traits of God” in “My story of coming to faith” here:
a. LIVE – My Story of Coming to Faith in Jesus.docx
7. Is there a mix of things – and what – in those mixed up things are right – which things are not? Not everything is either black or white – especially when it comes from people. You are not either black or white, right or wrong in your entire world view. Others are not 100% black or white either. Demons are black. Angels and God the Trinity are white. We are all a mix! Therefore, you must know your Bible!
a. Read the article about the thousands of demonic “Exposed” / “False teaching” ministries out there to see a Bible study using the principles here on navigating that sewage swamp: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AjvPa8m88R2BjZoOD14u7qg3a9MD9w?e=UrwKcy
8. Ensure you have God as God – as expressed through the ministry of Jesus and the Bible-day disciples – not your church tradition, your leaders’ behavior or nonbehavior, or your family’s tradition – no matter how nice they all are. If they do not match Jesus’ and the Acts level of fruit – we need to repent and go for daring, believing, and seeking and acting on the clear commands of God more.
9. You yourself are responsible to constantly maintain a hunger, a thirst, a deep passion for more of God and more fruit, more wisdom, more effectiveness, more power, more love, more revelation in our lives and the lives of others. You are responsible to evaluate your own life against the life and commands of Jesus – and go for all He says and did – and commanded all His disciples to do – like in Luke 10 & Matt 10.
Your actual actions shows if your heart is truly willing and what you actually believe today
Yes – we are all on a journey – but the faster we wake up and get passionate for God – the faster we will begin to make an eternal difference.
1. James 1:22
a. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
2. Hebrews 11:6
a. And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
3. Ephesians 2:10
a. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
4. James 2:26
a. For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
5. James 2:18
a. Someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
6. Main key: have a soft, broken, humble heart understanding – willing to change understanding, views = willing to repent = think differently and correctly and be shaped, changed, transformed by the Word and truth and love of God – to step into the true calling and purpose of God and bear MUCH fruit to the glory of Daddyo. And then as a true consequence of a true Christian life to do what Jesus commanded His followers to do – and show others, train others to do the same.
a. Be a disciple who makes disciples – just – like – Jesus – did.
Practical outworkings of the truths
7. Be a part of and serve in a healthy local loving living Christian fellowship / church (Hebrews 10:25).
8. Have a great personal prayer and worship life with God, quality hang time with Daddyo! This is an absolute foundation for all healthy things as a Christian (Luke 5:15-16).
9. Ensure you have NO grudges and bitterness, rejection or self-pity against God, parents, friends, family, people groups or yourself (Heb 12:15-16).
10. Ensure you are free from the love of money, pride of your intellect, the love of recognition and do not have a prideful “better than others” Pharisaical attitude (if you don’t know what that is – it is to use religion, rules and status to lift yourself up over others – and to then attack all that Jesus actually does in the name of that religion) – (Luke 16:14-15).
11. Be willing – and prove that you are willing – by actually doing it: Act on what you already clearly know Jesus says in the Bible. There is PLENTY to do in plain sight for all of us. Jesus said in the Bible in John 7:17 that you actually only really learn if something is from God by actually doing it!! This is SO in your face of those saying that IF God wanted to do something supernatural in and through them – He would. Jesus said: “Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.” And the truth in life is that you learn something even deeper when you teach others to do what you do.
12. Know and realize that all of us well-intentioned Christians are partly blindly stuck in strong religious traditions, habits, and limitations, fears and bad experiences, that do not compare to the simplicity of hands-on friendship and training by direct personal demonstration in the supernatural evangelism and discipleship that Jesus modeled. We must repent and have Jesus as Lord and God – not our church tradition, family habits, comfortable lives, or the life model of Christian leaders, we look up to if they do not do what Jesus did (none of them fully do – only Jesus is perfect).
13. Have you been set completely free from any and all demonic bondage, oppression and influence from the inside and outside? Have all open doors of sin, generational, past and present been closed? So many Christians need deliverance from evil spirits. If you have not studied this subject in depth, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible and I encourage you to submit yourself to going through a deliverance form like this one – and to have people who help you pray through it and close any doors to that evil deceptive realm. How do you ensure the demons do not return “worse than before” (Matthew 12:43–45)? Fill yourself with the identity of God (see full Bible study) – as the “one Jesus loves” and the “one the Father loves”, and the “one the Holy Spirit loves” – ridding yourself of all bitterness, rejection, having the fear of the Lord in all holiness and learn to use your authority over all demons (Luke 10:19):

Is reading and understanding the Bible for all of us? YES!!
Does the above challenge you to the core? I hope so. I also know this will be a bigger challenge to some than others. Personally, I am both very challenged – but also very excited about this. It means I can take action – be used mightily – supernaturally even, powerfully by God – if I am willing. And I want it. It is AMAZING to feel used by God. There are different expectations from Jesus due to different talents and life situations. But that does not change the fact that all of us are called to absolutely maximize their own lives in, with, through, and for Jesus in the full power of the Holy Spirit – going for all Jesus did and trained the disciples to do and then commanded them to do – and they DID!

Especially leaders should fully practice Matt 10 & Luke 10 etc. And take disciples with them as friends as they go – just as Jesus did. Let’s GO!
CLASSIC BIBLE INTERPRETATION PRINCIPLES THAT HAVE STOOD THE TEST OF TIME
Actually – this whole paper is a teaching in itself, a demonstration of how to do a Bible study on a certain topic. The topic here is: How to rightly interpret, understand, and take action on the Bible.

The Bible – its own best interpreter
The Bible is its own best interpreter – at all times. How does this work? What did Jesus say about the Bible and what else does the Bible say about itself. Jesus is the only perfect person who ever lived. Jesus is God incarnate. Fully 100% God, fully 100% man. He is our God. He is our Master. We are to be like Him, follow Him and be disciples of Him. He is our righteous and just judge. We are responsible to follow Him – not any person. So, what He said and did is always KING over all else in the Bible.

JESUS AND THE BIBLE – the Word of God
1. What did Jesus say about the Bible?
a. Jesus said in Matthew 5:17-18: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish but to fulfill. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter will pass from the law until everything takes place.” – and here – He was talking about the Old Testament!
b. And He further said right after this in Matthew 5:19: “Whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
c. In John 10:35 Jesus says: “Scripture cannot be broken.”
d. In Matthew 4:4 Jesus says: It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ e. Jesus spoke of the Old Testament in terms of actual history. He believed that the people mentioned actually existed and the events recorded truly occurred. These include: Adam and Eve (Matthew 19), Jonah and the great sea monster (Matthew 12), and Noah and the Flood (Matthew 24). There is not the slightest hint that Jesus cast doubt on any of the stories contained in the Old Testament. f. Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things written about himself in all the scriptures. (Luke 24:27) g. He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” (Luke 24:44) h. Jesus said: Set them apart in the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:17) i. Jesus said: I am the way, the truth, and the life. (John 14:6) j. Jesus did not commission His people to undo the Old Testament; He faced the devil with Deuteronomy 8:3. He faced the Sadducees with Exodus 3:6. He faced the Pharisees with Psalm 110:1. He used scripture, which is truth, to defeat both the devil and people. k. Luke 16:17 – It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.
If Jesus said that and He is your Savior and Lord – will you call the Word of God the same, treat it the same, believe it the same, act on it the same? Let’s willingly, wholeheartedly submit to His Truth, His Law, His Love, His Intimate Friendship of Freedom and Trust.
THE GOSPELS AND THE BIBLE
2. What do the Gospels = Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John say about the Bible?
a. As I have and will refer to several times here in the first chapter of the Gospel of John – Jesus is the Living Word of God – God incarnate. “The Word became flesh and we saw Him.” So, we have the written Word, The Bible, and we have the Living Word, Jesus, and we have the present Word, God with us. And Jesus is 100% God and 100% man.
b. All throughout the 4 Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke & John, and the rest of the New Testament, we see the writers and Jesus quoting stories from the Old Testament and saying: this is a fulfillment of this prophecy about the coming Messiah. Studying the fulfilled prophecies of Jesus in the New Testament is a very strong faith-building exercise. Here are 3 links to Scriptures and a study you can make about that – which is a major testimony to the truth and validity of the Bible:

THE OTHER PARTS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT AND THE BIBLE
3. What about the other parts of the New Testament? Here are just a few of the Scriptures about Scripture in the Scripture
a. 2 Timothy 3:15-17 Paul wrote:
i. 15 From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
b. Romans 15:4
i. For everything that was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
c. 2 Peter 1:20-21
i. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation. For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
d. Acts 17:11
i. Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
e. Romans 10:16-17
i. However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
f. Revelation 19:13
i. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.
g. 1 John 1:1
i. That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life.
1. This Word of Life is Jesus in the flesh.
h. Revelation 22:18-19
i. I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book.
1. This fits with this
a. Matt 5:19
i. So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. i. And there are many more similar Scriptures in the New Testament
THE OLD TESTAMENT AND THE BIBLE – THE WORD OF GOD
4. What about the Old Testament?
a. Read all of Psalm 119 – the longest chapter in the entire Bible. It’s all about the love of the Word and Words of God.
i. This is also the place where you will find the verse about the fullness of or sum of the Word of God is truth (Psalm 119:160).
b. Proverbs 30:5-6
i. Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words. Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.
c. Deuteronomy 4:2
i. You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
d. Isaiah 40:8
i. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
e. Joshua 1:7
i. Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
f. Psalm 138:2
i. I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.
1. This is part of the answer to how God can work in and through people who are not perfect – both believers and un-believers. Salvation and miracles are always only a result of faith – not our own holiness and perfection.
g. Psalms 12:6
i. The words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a furnace, like gold refined seven times.
ARE YOU ALLOWED TO DIVE INTO UNDERSTANDING IT FOR YOURSELF?
5. Are you able to read and understand the Bible for yourself?
a. Yes – the Bible authorizes YOU to do it – humbly, on your knees, in prayer, with logic and intelligence, with good tools, with no care of the fear of people, with fire and zeal, with boldness and bravery, with faith: YES i. You do not stand responsible before a leader or pastor at the end of your life and now – but before God for what you do with your life. ii. Jesus said in John 16:12-15 1. I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore, I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. a. This means we need to know the Jesus of the Bible to discern well what the Holy Spirit is saying now about Jesus. Those 2 things will align if they are truly from the Holy Spirit.
2. We have an anointing = a Holy Spirit enabling ability – to read, understand, study, find the truth. 1 John 2:27
a. As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.
i. Jesus also said the Holy Spirit within us would teach us.
1. John 14:26
a. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
2. At the same time the Bible also says we have the 5-fold leaders who are to teach us. Ephesians 4:12-13
a. So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for works of ministry and to build up the body of Christ, 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we mature to the full measure of the stature of Christ.
3. We are not to fear people – but to be obedient to (“fear”) God most of all – and only Him at all times.
a. Matthew 12:50, Mark 3:35, Luke 8:21
i. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
b. Luke 11:28 i. Blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it. c. John 15:14 i. You are my friends if you do what I command you. d. John 8:31-32 i. If you hold to my teaching, you are truly my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. e. John 13:17 i. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
TRIED AND TRUE BIBLE INTERPRETATION PRINCIPLES
PRINCIPLE ONE
1. Keep the main thing the main ting: Christianity is ALL about a TRUE ONE on ONE friendship between you and God – the Living God – Your Friend – of the Bible. He is the Friend of Friends. He is the Bro of Bros. He is the Dad of Dads. He is the Helper of Helpers. He is the Best Friend, best Leader, best King, best Servant, best Humble Intimate Wise Counsellor (all these titles and so many more can be found in the Bible). And we are His bride – He is our Groom (2 Corinthians 11:2-3). Hebrews 12:2 – we are His joy.
PRINCIPLE TWO
2. Do not worship the book! But truly KNOW your God through your Bible. Reading and studying takes time and work! Worship the LIVING Word, who is Jesus Christ! Relationship – heart to heart outpouring and honesty is THE key. Jesus WARNED that worshipping the book would happen! See: John 5:39 – You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. And also – mainly and as a conscious choice of priority listen to Bible interpreters who personally know and walk in the full power of God incuding deliverance, prophecy, speaking in tongues and even raising the dead – making healthy, positive, non-critical disciples (like Todd White, Isaiah Saldivar and many others). Also know – you are called and commanded to live out and experience personally that Jesus still wins over demons, sicknesses, death, and speaks prophetically today through you and anyone who are willing to believe it and therefore act on it. In Matthew 22:29 Jesus says: “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.”
a. A nice saying: “If you just have the Word, you dry out. If you just have the Spirit, you blow up. If you have both – you grow up.” And let me add to that the fullness of the fruit of the Spirit – not just the power.
b. Do not be an either – or Christian – but a BOTH – AND Christian. Both healthy Bible truth understanding AND the power of God. c. We can know spiritual power – and not know truth. We can know things in the Bible and not know God. According to Jesus – we need to know both the Bible and the power of God.
PRINCIPLE THREE
3. The LETTERS in RED are above all. In some translations the words of Jesus are in red. First of all – and above all – read the 4 Gospels – especially the words in RED and practice what you read – then read and understand Acts, the normal Christian life (so different of much of “Christianity”) – practice all that you read, learn from those who are doing it – and then read the rest.
a. All the actions of Jesus should be in bright green because it is not just about what Jesus said – but also equally and even more important what He did – for we are to not be hearers only – but doers – just like He was and is.
PRINCIPLE FOUR
4. Context. Learn to read what you read in context. Do not take a verse out of its context – out of the verses around it – out of the paragraph around it – or out of the book it is in. Prime examples of this is to say that Matthew 18:18-20 is about prayer. It is not at all. Or to say that 2 Corinthians 10:4 is about spiritual warfare and prayer – it is not at all. I have on purpose not done the work of helping you figure out what they Scripture is about – so you can now go check it out. Seek – until you truly find – and you will find. Maybe there is something about it in my Bible studies on “Prayer” – and “Gossip”.
PRINCIPLE FIVE
5. Cross references. Cross references are KING. Using cross references is how you find the sum of the Word – the fullness of the Word as Psalm 119:160 says. Here is an excellent independent cross reference tool: https://www.openbible.info/labs/cross-references – but they are also built into BibleHub.com and BlueLetterBible.com.
PRINCIPLE SIX
6. What did it mean to them? Then – what are the eternal principles of God and people? An excellent study for this is to read Matthew 28:20, Matthew 10 and Luke 10, and then to read Acts chapters 13-16 – along with 1 Corinthians 9:19-27. What do they all mean, as you put them together into the fullness of and the sum of the Word?
PRINCIPLE SEVEN
7. Be deeply thirsty & hungry for more of all things God and more of the Holy Spirit. We are never done growing. When we are we are doing bad. Jesus said in John 7:37-38 – Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ ” Be DEEPLY THIRSTY to understand eternal truth of the Word of God – “my people perish because of lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). But knowledge puffs up / makes us prideful. So, let’s keep humble and loving – yet thirsty.
a. 2 Tim. 2:15 says: Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. i. The moment you are done growing – you are in danger of error, and you not actually stop growing, but are decreasing.
PRINCIPLE EIGHT
8. Have a daily deep raw and honest strong personal devotional life – including: passionate, bold prayer, tongues, worship, Bible reading and quietly waiting on and writing down the inspiration from God. Read and know the whole Bible (aim to read through it yearly). Suggestion: Use the ONE YEAR BIBLE by Nicky Gumbel in the Bible App: www.bible.com
PRINCIPLE NINE
9. Have an attitude and boldness in Jesus (and true healthy fear of only God) to BOTH study – AND to act on ALL you read – a willingness to be challenged, to change, to repent, to be humble and actually do what Jesus commands. Compare the Word and the life of Jesus and the disciples to your life and choose to change. Too many simply study – but do not re-prioritize their time, change their lives and priorities and ACT, break with fear of man and religious limiting traditions of man, and see the fruit and power of Jesus through them. Blow the limits away that you or others set on you with the Word of God. Please go yourself and find the many Scriptures supporting this.
PRINCIPLE TEN
10. Have a strong foundation in terms of systematic theology and the eternal character of God
a. Know that God forever is: LOVE, JOY, PEACE, TRUTH, LIFE, LIGHT, JUSTICE, RIGHTEOUSNESS, FREEDOM, POWER, MAJESTY, HONOR, GLORY, ADVENTURE, FRIEND, CREATOR, KING, DAD, BROTHER, GROOM!
i. The eternal character of God: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AjvPa8m88R2Bjo9G0s4K2fXpUHTK1Q
b. Foundational statements of our faiths are found elsewhere in this study.
c. Books to read – for instance: https://www.amazon.com/Christian-Beliefs- Twenty-Basics- Should/dp/0310255996/ref=zg_bs_15755501_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID =C0DRNM3FPXBBJSZTDH80
PRINCIPLE ELEVEN
11. Compare your life to the simple disciple life. 1 Corinthians 11:1 – Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. Have you done and do you understand and are you educated – are you bold and free and have experience in and are you leading others to do these things below. These are core Jesus-style discipleship testers for us all. In-stead of looking for other things – how about starting with what Jesus actually trained all His disciples to do!! Find someone who will train you:
a. Repentance – turning from sin to holiness. Choosing not to sin. Choosing to take total personal ownership of your own life before God in all that is on this list.
b. Baptism by full immersion in water after coming to faith.
c. Continual filling of the Holy Spirit – and speaking in tongues – hearing from God.
d. Ensuring I am fully delivered from evil spirits, and doing deliverance on others. Understanding, educated, and practicing this area. e. Healing the sick, raising the dead, moving in the prophetic power of the Holy Spirit. f. Helping others do it. g. Helping others help others to do it.
How to do a word and topic Bible study
First, again. Know that the Bible is not inaccessible to you. But know that some work is involved in digging out the gold, the truth, the balance, the wisdom, the life, and love of God in and through it. Just like I have done in this study – the study of studying the Bible well.
I deeply encourage you: compare everything you believe and everything others believe and teach and practice to what Jesus said and did. And then look at yourself and align your belief and practice with what Jesus said and did. That is where we should all start. Then we will have the true authority to teach others to do the same.
All this, by the way, must be first founded on a personal friendship and relationship with Daddy God. Please read this if you need to first build this: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AjvPa8m88R2BjZlczZLwOubSalT8mw?e=JmfUCJ
By order of importance to understand

YOUR ACTUAL BIBLE STUDY TOOLS
1. English Bible translations
a. Using modern translations like the NIV, NKJV, ESV, NASB, TLB, and AMP are good places to go – also to compare translations and get a broader and deeper view on certain verses.
i. There are also good study Bibles with lots of helpful information out there. Be aware, though, that many of these are written by people who do not practice what Jesus commanded to do (Matt & Luke 10): deliverance, healing, prophecy, raising the dead, speaking in tongues and who do not believe that all believers are to be equipped to do the work of the ministry by both apostles, prophets, evangelists, teachers and pastors (Ephesians 4:11-13). And many do not believe that we all have all the gifts of the Holy Spirit – and simply need to learn how to use them. Please read my Bible study about that here: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AjvPa8m88R2BjZc___fv8fLW-uB-6w

5. Healthy Christian web pages As in: Not fringe / unknown / anyone can do a weird web page or YouTube video these days.
a. Crosswalk.com. Charisma Magazine, Focus on the Family, GotQuestions.com (except for info on the Holy Spirit power gifts)
b. Your Google search could look like this: “focus on the family abortion”
c. The goal is to build a complete (as possible) library of Scriptures on the subject – because our starting point is always the fullness of the counsel of the Word of God, the Bible: Psalm 119:160 = “The sum of your word is truth”, then we can get the clearest possible view on a certain subject from that.
6. Learn how to use an interlinear Bible
a. Where you also see the Greek and Hebrew originals with the English – along with links to Greek / Hebrew dictionaries:
i. https://www.blueletterbible.org/niv/mat/5/5/t_concr_934001
ii. Click around on the Strongs numbers – it will really help you to to the actual Greek and Hebrew original texts.
7. Ask strong Christians who bear fruit of the Spirit, believe in, love and act on the Word – and dialogue with them about the questions you have. Though compare what they say directly with the Bible. Good Christian leaders are 100% not always right / accurate.
8. Do not ask those who do not believe in and practice and bear fruit from Matt & Luke 10
a. Do not ask those who do not bear much fruit and
i. live in the character fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23): 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
ii. as well as the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 12:1-11)
b. Do not ask those who believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are not for today (called cessationsts). c. Even though they bear tons of fruit and see tons of miracles – realize – these things happen because they have faith, not necessarily because they have correct doctrine and theology or live holy or are operating by the Holy Spirit.
9. Know the fullness of the Bible yourself – ask yourself – what is the fullness of the word of God?
i. The highest scholarly university level is to actually do what He does and says – and not just memorize it. Luke 10:21: At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was wellpleasing in Your sight.
10. Study Bibles like the NIV Study Bible are full of helpful information:
i. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=niv+study+bible&sprefix=esv+study+bible
b. So is the: NIV New Spirit Filled Life Study Bible:
ii. https://www.christianbook.com/niv-spirit-filled-life-biblehardcover/9781401678210/pd/678211?srsltid=AfmBOoqp8YJnGITghCFj8 zHx4uD5CaAvvfDG1f5lZRvQr9_QMOkbfEst
c. And the deepest ones would be in-depth university level scholarly Bible commentaries like the New International Commentary are great resources to help you go extremely deep.
11. Don’t get stuck in the periphery of verses and words – when there are plenty of easy-tounderstand things – which will take a lifetime to master. Also consider that time is limited now, and we have so many important things to do while on earth. What God is looking for from us is LOVE – and LOVE in action towards Him, others and ourselves in the power of the Spirit of God.
FINAL EXHORTATION

AGAIN: ALWAYS REMEMBER: What is the ultimate goal of reading the Bible?
RELATIONSHIP! To get to know our best Friend – Daddyo. His primary title needs to be: Friend of Friends! And your bro’!! Brother – Jesus. And your Helper, Guide, & Comforter, the Holy Spirit – with Whom we have that sweet fellowship:
2 Corinthians 13:14 – May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
To know not just intellectually – but to know God by His peace, joy, and righteousness experientially. The goal is for us to change – to repent – to be more like Jesus. To find out the truth about God and to believe it and prove we believe it by acting on it. To understand who Jesus really is and to be like Him, talk like Him, and do what He did. So, it is to be a disciple and to make disciples.
To understand eternal truth: Jesus is the same yesterday, today & forever. Hebr. 13:8
Getting all our thoughts and actions aligned with God’s, so we can co-work with God to bring more of heaven to earth. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10
Also – keep keeping the main thing the main thing. It does not need to be advanced intellectually to be deep! What should be our main focus is what was Jesus’ main focus. He trained His disciples by example in both the fruit of the Spirit and the power of the Spirit. Not just in intellectual agreement that that is a good idea – but in actual daily obedience and practice of the supernatural – with great results! If you don’t know how to do the following list further below, we must understand: We in the West have a bad tendency to be all about logic and the intellect – logic and intellect are God given and good – but if you are good at one thing – it can make you imbalanced in favor of that good thing – limiting you from other good and important things. It can get out of balance and become an “idol” – a false “god”. Any thing that comes first is your actual “god”! This is where you should always start: Do you know how and do you have people who follow you in doing it and do you have people – over you and with you – who model the following. How to:
1. Spend Quality time with Daddyo in Jesus name through the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
2. Go out – led as much as you can by the Spirit to people of peace (people prepared by Jesus to hear the good news): Lead people to repentance, obedience and saving faith in Jesus
3. Heal the sick
4. Cast out demons
5. Baptize people in water
6. Baptize people in the Holy Spirit
7. Hear from Heaven, helping them step into the use of the gifts
8. Make disciples who make disciples – like Jesus, Paul, Peter etc.
Do you actually spend real time doing all that – daily / weekly?
THIS IS WHAT JESUS DID! THIS IS WHAT THE DISCIPLES DID – THEY COPIED HIM – HE WAS THEIR MASTER – THEY WERE HIS FOLLOWERS – NOTHING HAS CHANGED. THIS IS WHAT WE AS CHRISTIANS ARE SUPPOSED TO DO – DO YOU DO THIS? IF YOU ARE WILLING – YOU CAN LIVE THIS EXCITING SUPER-HERO KIND OF LIFE AS WELL! No one is stopping you. No one should. Jesus is certainly not. Break FREE of whatever fear, lie and limitation is putting its ugly chains around you! Let’s go!
That is how the schedule of Jesus and the disciples looked like. Start there – as well as knowing how to accurately study the Bible.
