Brokenness, Childlikeness, and Humility – Surfing the Wave of Repentance
Brokenness, childlikeness, and humility will not sound cool – but in the eyes of God they are the highest kind of coolness, and the way to healing and freedom.
(Acts 17:11: Please learn to do your own Bible studies like this one – here.)
Warning!
THIS – will not sound cool. There will be resistance in you, around you.
Even though it is the highest kind of coolness in the eyes of God.
IF – YOU dare to listen through this – and will receive it and practice it – YOU ARE a legend – and will last for the long run of real life.
THIS – will not feel good to your flesh – your sinful nature.
But it should not for nothing good dwells in your flesh.
No – THIS – will not feel good to your pride.
THIS – will not make you look good – to begin with.
But pride comes before a fall – while God exalts the humble.
Before good news – comes bad news. And Jesus preached good news – that means – we must have believed the bad news – otherwise – why would we even need good news?
If – any demon of pride and deep insecurity, doubt, unbelief, and rebellion is influencing you – they will not like this teaching.
This is about this – for the purpose of healing, wholeness, love, truth, and freedom:
It is complete exposure before God and people.
It is complete honesty before God and people.
It leads you to be a warrior and freedom fighter like Jesus.
Sins and demons hide in shame – causing you to run away from God in fear of the punishment, exposure, shame, rejection, and judgment we deserve for some of what we have done.
BUT the good news is – God JUST COMPLETELY LOVES YOU – US ALL – EVERYONE FOREVER.
So – you can come clean – and you must come clean – we must be broken and open and come to the light, the truth, the love, the forgiveness, the friendship, the peace, the intimacy of Daddy God, brother Jesus, and Helper and Comforter – Holy Spirit – to be healed. The truth of His eternal forgiveness and love for us – heals us.
And you know what – God already knows everything – in every detail – and already loves you anyway.
This is the antidote to being a Pharisee – pretending all is good and all is well – for it is not – in no-one. Only one is Perfect – Jesus, Dad, Holy Spirit. And His heart is lowly, humble, and gentle. He has only mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and friendship to offer. But also truth.
But the truth is – He has taken away our shame, guilt, sin, punishment, and rejection. He took it on Himself. Now it is gone – legally – for good – forever. Will you come to him – let your heart be loved and restored by Him?
The Good News Behind Brokenness
Let’s pray as we read the Bible together and we humble ourselves together and we resist the enemy, Satan, who is very real, together.
Prayer of freedom, clarity, revelation.
What Are Some of Our Difficult, Lowly Titles?
(We also have some very high ones.) All right – let’s start with Jesus and go on from there.
I am sick
We are sick. I am sick.
Jesus – Mark 2:16-17 “Only the sick need a doctor. I cannot heal you unless you realize you are sick.”
I am a sinner
We are sinners in a sinful body of flesh. I am a sinner. I need forgiveness.
Jesus:
While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:10-13
“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’ “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Luke 18:10-16
I choose to be lowly, gentle, and humble at heart
I am to choose to be lowly, gentle, and humble at heart.
Jesus – Matthew 11:29-30 “I am lowly, gentle, and humble at heart.” We are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) – we are to be imitators of Him: Ephesians 5:1, 1 Corinthians 11:1.
I must choose to obey and repent
I must choose to think differently – from bad thinking to good thinking – especially when it comes to judging the heart of God for me and all people.
Jesus – Matthew 18:2-5: “Unless you repent (think differently = think correctly) and become like a little child – you will not enter the Kingdom of God.” AND – Mark 1:14-15: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is here now; change your mind to think right and believe in the good message.”
Be a little child
Jesus – Be like a simple little baby in faith (no fear of man or trying to look wise, smart, and cool) – Luke 10:21 and Matthew 11:25. He called rough and tough fishermen, military zealots, sons of thunder, mighty leaders, tax collectors – LITTLE CHILDREN. Not just children. Those who trust Him.
Those who believe in Him. Those with simple faith to believe and do what Daddy says.
Luke 18:15-17 (AMP) – Now they were also bringing their babies to Him, so that He would touch and bless them, and when the disciples noticed it, they began reprimanding them. But Jesus called them to Himself, saying [to the apostles], “Allow the children to come to Me, and do not forbid them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God [with faith and humility] like a child will not enter it at all.”
I need to hunger and thirst – I am in need and do not have all in myself
Jesus – hunger and thirst. Staying hungry (John 6:35) and thirsty (John 7:37-39). There is a need – a fire – a lack – a longing for more – deep inside you. Let’s be expanding / positive (increasing in our mindset – going for more, for improvement).
Let’s have a creative God-proactivity & thinking like Ahithophel (2 Samuel 16:23) – binge-watch, binge-read, binge-be, binge-do – while also at the same time – rest – and know that God is fully satisfied with you in Christ in regards to friendship, justice, forgiveness and love.
But He also wants you to run the course and the race He has set before you.
I need to be poor – not rich – in spirit (attitude)
I need to mourn (my sin – the sin, evil injustice of me first and of others and demons).
I need to be gentle and meek
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:3-12
The Common Denominator
All of them are uncool and unmighty and lowly and servanthood – but in the eyes of God, of Jesus, of the Holy Spirit – this is where it is at!!! This is those – He can use. It is the incomplete, imperfect, the broken, the lowly, the unfinished, the humble, the repentant.
Kevin Zadai: “All I am doing is surfing the wave of brokenness.”
Surfing the wave of brokenness, humility, repentance, submission. This rhymes with:
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:7-10
Go low in humility!
The Holy Spirit through Rick Joyner in the book The Final Quest: “Please wear this drab, grey sweater over your shining armor. Reluctantly – OK. Then, suddenly, He could see much clearer. His pride (shining armor) was removed. What cloak is this? He could see the hidden attacks and ambushes of the enemy of pride. The cloak of humility – enables you to see clearer. The highest rank in the Kingdom.”
Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.” Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.” Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him. Jesus said,”For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.” Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?” Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.
John 9:35-41
Blindness
The opposite of a Pharisaical spirit. Jesus said: “Because you say you see – yet you are blind. You will be judged.” (Revelation 3:15-22)
Weakness
Paul said: Glorying in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). In my flesh dwells no good thing (Romans 7:18).
Believe and have faith
There is no time and space in prayer – only believe – only faith. Open your heart now and lay hold of the love of God.
Prayers
- Prayer of repentance – humility, lowliness.
- Prayer of asking God to judge now – with the evaluation judgment we all will get at the end of our lives.
- Prayer of rebuking the enemy now.
This here – is the foundation of deliverance. Humility, willing to repent, hunger, a desperation to be free. Seek and you will find.
